My artifact story
I told story about it. After I entered the high school, I needed to decide club activity. But it was difficult for me to decide. One day, I was about to get home from school, two seniors were approached to me. And I was introduced to “sadou ” club activity. After I experienced this club for short time, I decided to enter there. However, the third grader soon retired, and I became the only member of the club. At the school festival in autumn, I worked hard with some teachers at the tea ceremony club. This event was the most hard for me when I was high school student. And I worried that someone will not enter this club when I became the second grade.
When I was in the second grade, four first-year students joined the club. It was a good news for me. So, I no longer have to worry about this club’s future. And I was committed to passing on my skills to the younger members.
By the time I was retired, the club had a total of nine members. The club members became that they can put on a performance at the school festival by themselves. This allowed me to celebrate my graduation ceremony without any worries. The graduation ceremony finished and I came out from the gym.
“Senior! ” said my club juniors that were in the hallway in front of the gym. “Congratulations on your graduation! We have something for you!”
“Thanks!” I said for my club juniors. My artifact is that I received at that time.
The club activity is the important experience for students. But, recently in Japan, we often hear bad news about the school club activities. To give an example, corporal punishment in the club activity is most often heard us in the news. The seniority system is so strongly entrenched in Japan that it is difficult for students to resist their teachers. So, I think that more and more students do not want to participate in club activities in recent years.
And “Yosegaki” is a culture of Japan. It is that we write messages for anyone, example, when he or she graduated from school and retired the club. Written messages by some members are full of thanks or respect. We may be very happy when we received it. This experience will may good for us.
Therefore, I hope that such incidents would be eliminated and that all students would have a positive and good experience through club activities.

Hi, Minamo! It seems that the approache from the senior was a fateful moment for you. I think the memories packed in your Artifact are very good! I think club activities should be fun, and corporal punishment is a big problem.
返信削除Hello! I have received a "Yosegaki" from juniors in my club, and I have also written to seniors. It makes both writing and receiving them feel good. I think it is a good Japanese culture and one that I would like to continue.
返信削除I remembered that I received "Yosegaki". And I was glad when I received that, too. I think the increasing club members is the result of your efforts. I understood you had a great time in club activities.
